Our client is looking to offer a talented and driven Formulation Scientist the exciting opportunity to join their experienced team based in Oxford/Wiltshire.

Job Title

Formulation Scientist

Background

As a Formulation Scientist, reporting to the Formulation Development Section Manager, you will be responsible for Formulation and Clinical Trial manufacturing of solid, non-sterile semi-solid and both sterile and non-sterile liquid products.

There will also be a requirement to support process development activities for late clinical trials and marketed products.

Key Responsibilities

· Participate in preformulation studies on clients drug substances.

· Develop new products for preclinical and clinical and for the marketplace.

· Manufacture of stability and clinical trial batches within the laboratory area or pilot plant.

· Participate in Process Development and Validation studies where required.

· Prepare technical documentation to support development work and manufacturing (includes laboratory notebooks, batch records and process validation documentation) to internal, customer and regulatory requirements.

· Contribute to the preparation of reports for internal use, clients and regulatory authorities.

· Assist in the validation of new equipment.

· Prepare SOPs for new equipment and procedures.

· Maintain and improve standards of Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practice.

· Maintain technical awareness by regular review of literature and training courses.

· Work safely in accordance with company and site procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

· Minimum of Science degree (e.g. pharmacy or chemistry)or HNC/Diploma with some relevant experience. A higher degree would be an advantage.

· Proven experience in formulation development in a similar role within the Pharmaceutical Industry. In addition some knowledge of process development is necessary.

· Working knowledge of cGMP.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).

· Well motivated with the capacity to work under pressure.

· Thoroughness and attention to detail.

· Ability to follow procedures.

· Innovative to enable challenges to be overcome.

· Flexible attitude towards work.

· Keen to work in a new and dynamic environment.

· Proficient computer skills.
