Job Summary

The leader of the Method Development and Discovery Bioanalysis team maintains revenue generation and profitability of the department by ensuring that the group is supplied with appropriately scoped and costed projects, achieves efficient work scheduling of the team, and delivers high quality results and communication of study progress to internal and external clients.

The bioanalytical department supports internal pre-clinical (in- vitro, drug metabolism, toxicology, pharmacology and formulation analysis services) and external clinical clients, covering both regulatory and non-regulatory work. Continued revenue growth of the bioanalytical department and back-filling of newly appointed Director role has created a position for a manager/senior manager to supervise method development team and support preclinical and clinical services.

Job Title

Manager / Senior Manager, Method Development and Discovery Bioanalysis

Background

Due to expansion, our client are looking to recruit a Manager of Method Development and Discovery Bioanalysis to be based in their offices in Ayrshire.

Key Responsibilities

· Supervision of a group of scientists and senior scientists performing method development and discovery bioanalytical support.

· Scoping of new preclinical and clinical method development studies and appropriate costing of proposals.

· To provide bioanalytical support for the development of robust and reliable LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods appropriate for validation and high-throughput sample analysis.

· To maximise expertise in chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques by application of knowledge gained through training and assimilated from previous technical challenges. To provide troubleshooting support to developed and existing methodologies to ensure retrospective problems are resolved in a timely manner.

· To assist in the training of technicians and scientists in the general techniques routinely used for sample analysis.

· To enhance the competitive ability of the company through the development and validation of target non-proprietary bioanalytical methods.

· Assisting in the development of sales and marketing activities.

· Evaluation and development of new technologies and applications to enhance the throughput and productivity of the department.

· To communicate effectively with both internal and external customers and peers to facilitate the smooth conduct of project activities.

· To follow safe working practices in the laboratory, maintaining good housekeeping and compliance with in-house SOP’s and safety legislation (eg. COSH H).

· The role holder will be required to clearly and concisely document all activities performed and comply fully with GLP regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

· Possess a degree or postgraduate degree in a chemistry related subject.

· Must have knowledge of HPLC chromatographic parameters and practical hands-on experience of extraction techniques such as protein precipitation, liquid/liquid and solid phase extraction for the isolation and quantification of new chemical entities from a range of biological matrices.

· Experience of MS tuning, optimisation and LC-MS/MS mass spectrometric detection techniques are required.

· Excellent communication skills and organisational ability to manage and multi-task your own personal and the team’s workloads.

· Good GLP laboratory skills and good attention to detail is required.
